Donor Screening

blankAt American Reproductive Services, our egg donor program is dedicated to carefully selecting egg donors that meet certain minimum requirements.  Egg donors must be between the ages 21 - 30.  It is preferable that they gave birth to at least one healthy child.  Our egg donor program asks egg donors to prove that there has been no history of drug or alcohol abuse.  In addition, egg donors need to pass a full physical exam, including a blood and urine test, and have no history of sexually transmitted diseases.  They also must pass a psychological exam.  Pre-qualified egg donors must agree to take fertility medications to stimulate their ovaries to produce many eggs at one time.  A written consent to be an egg donor must be given after the initial screening.  Additionally, egg donors must provide proof that there has been no family history of hereditary diseases, including but not limited to major medical problems, surgeries, mental retardation, or psychiatric problems.  Finally, our egg donor screening process ensures that the egg donor understands that once the eggs are retrieved from her ovaries, she has no legal control over what happens to them and you bear no responsibility for the outcome of the pregnancy.
